County toll rises by 15 on deadliest day for UK

-

FIFTEEN more coronavirusrelated hospital deaths have been reported in hospitals that serve Derbyshire.

New data from NHS England shows 12 of the deaths have been registered at Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust and three were reported at Chesterfield Royal Hospital.

Latest figures from the Government also show 538 new cases have been reported across the county. That figure is high, but far lower than totals reported between November and January, when repeated Government measures had to be introduced to tackle infection rates.

The highest total in the new statistics was in Derby, where 164 new cases have been reported. Derby has by a distance recorded the most cases here since the crisis began. The second biggest rise was in Erewash, where 84 new cases were recorded. Other than Derby, Amber Valley remains the place in Derbyshire to have seen the most cases since the virus first arrived.
