Expanding village could grow further with bid for 35 homes
A DERBYSHIRE village could see another 35 homes be built on land next to its school, if plans are given the go-ahead.
Kirk Langley, between Derby and Ashbourne, has already seen a development consisting of dozens of homes approved and the village could now be set to grow even further under new plans.
The plans, which have been submitted by Clarendon Land and Development, would also see land allocated for the potential expansion of Kirk Langley Primary School, which borders the site off Moor Lane.
While the exact mix of housing types has not been determined, it states in planning documents there will be a “broad range”.
This will include some terraced properties, along with semidetached and detached homes, with none being more than two storeys tall.
“Land is reserved within the development for a potential extension to the existing primary school, and a pick-up/drop-off area with parking,” it adds.
This land would back on to the south side of the school, with most of the residential development lying to the south east.
In a design and access Statement submitted by FCPR Environment and Design Ltd on behalf of the applicant, it says the development will feature private gardens and parking for residents.
Indicative illustrations submitted to the council as part of the planning application suggest the access to the site could come from Fieldon Close, just off the B5020 at Moor Lane.
It also indicates a separate pedestrian access route into the development from the A52 Ashbourne Road, opposite where Peveril Homes is currently building dozens of homes.
The full plans can be seen under the reference AVA/2020/1226 on the Amber Valley Borough Council planning portal.
