Total number of Coronavirus centres across Derbyshire now stands at 17

-

THERE are now 17 confirmed coronavirus vaccination hubs across Derbyshire, as the NHS roll-out of jabs continues.

Derby and Derbyshire’s NHS Clinical Commissioning Group is asking residents to wait until they have received a letter before contacting the NHS, their GP or local hospital.

Once residents have received a letter, they are advised to book an appointment at their nearest site as soon as possible.

Three new vaccination centres were announced last week in Clowne, Chesterfield and Shirebrook as part of the ongoing national Covid-19 vaccination programme.

The move comes as health centres push on with administering vaccines across the county, with Royal Derby Hospital announcing yesterday that it has already completed its 10,000th jab.

Jade Mitchell, clinical lead for the Covid-19 vaccination hub, said: “Working towards this milestone has been such an emotional journey for us all.

“The hub has been a fantastic team effort and I am so proud of the help and support that we have received off so many different colleagues and professions across the trust.”

However, while significant progress has been made with vaccinations in Derbyshire so far, health officials have reminded people to continue following lockdown restrictions.

Dr Robyn Dewis, Derby City Council’s director of public health said the roll-out of the vaccine was not an excuse to flout Government guidelines and asked people to remain vigilant.

She said: “We are in a unique period whereby our usually ‘normal’ actions could cause ourselves or others a potentially severe illness.

“Until this is over, the best, and the only way to keep ourselves and our loved ones safer is to stay at home, apart from for essential reasons.”
