Williams reunited with boss at Bristol

-

BRISTOL Rovers boss Paul Tisdale has made former MK Dons defender George Williams his first signing at the Memorial Ground.

Williams, 27, has made over 200 appearances in a career which began with Worcester City and has since taken in Barnsley, Barrow and MK Dons.

“He’s a player that I know very well and understands how I like to operate,” said Tisdale.

“His experience and understanding of this level will be a bonus for us, with a number of promotions on his CV. His high level of professionalism and his attitude and application, both on and off the pitch, match the standards of what we expect at Bristol Rovers.”

PORTSMOUTH expect to seal the capture of Charlie Daniels.

It is understood the former Bournemouth defender is in the process of tying up a Fratton Park deal ahead of tomorrow’s visit of Hull City.

The 34-year-old’s departure from Shrewsbury Town was announced on Tuesday, paving the way for a switch to Pompey.

Daniels will provide left-back competition for Lee Brown.

CHARLTON Athletic boss Lee Bowyer says it is unlikely he will succeed in his bid to sign Bournemouth midfielder Nnamdi Ofoborh.

The 21-year-old is out of contract in the summer and Bowyer has confirmed Ofoborh is a player he is interested in but says he believes a deal is off the cards.

“I like the player but it’s not going to be realistic bringing him here,” he said.

“There are a lot more attractive offers for him at a higher level and even some abroad as well.”

GILLINGHAM have signed Southampton winger Tyreke Johnson following a brief loan spell.

The 22-year-old made his debut for the Gills against Burton Albion on January 9.

Johnson had made only three first-team appearances for Premier League Southampton since making his senior debut against Arsenal in December 2018.
