Security officer jobs available at virus testing centres

MORE than 40 vacancies are currently on offer for security officers in and around Derby - with some roles based at coronavirus testing centres.

Derby City Jobcentre says two companies, SSGC Ltd and Total Security Services, are both looking to add to their teams.

SSGC is seeking experienced security officers, ideally already holding a Security Industry Authority licence, for roles at coronavirus test facilities.

This would initially be for three to six months, but there is a high possibility for this to be extended.

Shifts are 12 hours long and a mix of days and nights, worked on a four-on and four-off rotation. The pay rate is £10 per hour.

The company says candidates should be of smart appearance, reliable and punctual. They should also have good communication skills and experience of working in a team.

Total Security Services is also seeking security officers to work at supermarkets and other sites across Derby and Derbyshire.

Working hours will include a mix of days, nights and weekends. The salary is £8.75 per hour and a company pension, full uniform and ongoing training will be provided.

Derby City Jobcentre is currently helping employers to fill more than 850 vacancies, including 735 fulltime positions.

Among those are 232 in healthcare and nursing, 141 in logistics and warehousing, 98 in teaching and 37 in social work roles.

The Jobcentre team has also organised a home-working virtual jobs fair between 10am and 2pm on February 24, where information and details of remote working opportunities will be shared.
