County Covid deaths pass 2,000
EIGHT more people have died from coronavirus in Derbyshire hospitals, according to latest statistics published by NHS England.
Four deaths were recorded in Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust and two each in Chesterfield Royal Hospital and Derbyshire Community Health Services. It means that 2,006 people have died from Covid-19 in Derbyshire since the start of the pandemic.
Since the start of the pandemic there have now been 65,155 cases of Covid-19 discovered in Derbyshire. Of these, 19,117 were in Derby, while 46,038 were found across the rest of the county.
Official figures have also revealed that 172 new cases of coronavirus were recorded across the county in the 24 hours to yesterday – down from 255 the previous day – with 59 in Derby.
The Government said a further 345 people had died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19 as of Friday, bringing the UK total to 122,415.
Separate figures published by the UK’s statistics agencies for deaths where Covid-19 has been mentioned on the death certificate, together with additional data on deaths that have occurred in recent days, show there have now been 142,000 deaths involving Covid-19 in the UK.

High Peak – 4,667 (eight new cases) North East Derbyshire – 5,664 (10 new cases)
South Derbyshire – 6,767 (14 new cases)
