New scheme aims to land pandemic-hit aerospace workers with matching roles

A NEW jobs search scheme has been set up to help those affected by the coronavirus pandemic in the aviation and aerospace industries.

With hundreds of people across Derby finding themselves out of work through no fault of their own, the Aviation Skills Retention Platform (ASRP) has set up a new scheme to find roles for those who have lost jobs due to the disruption of travel bans.

Both current and former workers in the industry can register their skills on the ASRP platform.

This will then match them with jobs, advice and training opportunities to help either welcome them back into aviation or further develop their skills.

Employers will also be able to use this platform to fill vacancies and search for people with the skills they need. It has been specifically designed for people who have lost their jobs due to the pandemic and includes more than 2,000 current opportunities.

New vacancies are uploaded daily. Supported by the Government, the programme is helping businesses across the country, including Rolls-Royce.

Transport Secretary Grant Shapps hailed the launch of the new service, saying: “We’re supporting our aviation sector by launching an online jobs market to match aviation workers with thousands of vacancies, helping skilled workers regain high-value positions across this hugely important sector.”

He added the scheme would support those with existing expertise and help them continue to grow. You can apply for jobs by visiting www.trs-system.co.uk/ aviation
