Man to face trial for dangerous driving over death of boy

-

A MAN will face trial later this year after being charged with causing death by dangerous driving following a fatal accident involving a boy from Derbyshire.

Adam Barry died after he collided with a car while riding his bike in Derby Road, Risley.

The incident happened on the evening of Saturday, April 25 last year.

Adam, who lived in Sandiacre, later died at the Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham.

A second inquest hearing into the youngster’s death was held yesterday morning but was adjourned for at least three months to allow a police investigation and criminal proceedings to conclude.

In November last year, Milan Gugyel, of Holmesfield Drive, Heanor, pleaded not guilty to the charge of death by dangerous driving over a video link at Derby Crown Court.

Gugyel will appear at a trial starting on October 18.

Detailing the case yesterday, coroner Louise Pinder said Adam’s cause of death was provisionally given by doctors as a head injury.

She said: “The brief circumstances reported to us is that Adam was riding his bicycle and he was struck by a car and the cause of death, provisionally, now has been confirmed is head injury.

“We are told by police that the driver has been charged in connection with Adam’s death and in those circumstances I am going to suspend our investigation and adjourn the inquest.”

Police have also confirmed Alexandra Polyak, 33, of Holmesfield Drive, Heanor, has also been charged with obstructing an officer in relation to the case.
