JFH: Brewers not as sharp but point was ‘well-deserved’

-

BLACKPOOL may have ended Burton Albion’s winning run in League One but Brewers manager Jimmy Floyd said the 1-1 draw at Bloomfield Road was a “well-deserved point”.

The Brewers travelled to face the Seasiders on the back of a six-game winning streak and were on course for three more points thanks to Hayden Carter’s first-half header, his third goal for Albion.

But Luke Garbutt levelled for the home side after the break as the points were shared.

“In the first half we played well, created a few chances, scored a goal and were in control,” said Hasselbaink.

“In the second, they made a substitution and changed, and it was difficult for us at times.

“But they are a very good team, very well organised and drilled, difficult to break down. At the end of the day I think it’s a fair result.

“They scored a little bit from our mistake, which is the only disappointment about it, because I think we could have cleared that ball.

“But coming to Blackpool and getting a point is not a bad thing.

“Of course, you want to win and we got our noses in front, so you want to still take (maximum points).

“But I don’t think we kicked on in the second half.

“We played the result a little bit instead of kicking on and doing what you need to do to make it 2-0. We didn’t do that well enough.

“But it can’t always go your way. If you look overall at the match it’s a well-deserved point.

“I don’t think we were as sharp as we have been, especially in the pressing, but on the other hand Blackpool did well.”

Hasselbaink now turns his attention to Saturday’s home game against MK Dons at the Pirelli Stadium.

“We keep on going and the boys have given everything again (tonight),” added Hasselbaink.

“The next game comes quickly and now it’s whether we can win that one, put in a good performance, get back to our best and try to take three points.

“It will be difficult against another good team but that’s all we can do.”
