Our grandson’s first birthday Keith Furnival

-

It is our grandson’s first birthday today. we will so sadly miss it.

We have missed such a lot, of that first year.

Covid has taken it away, has put our lives on stay. We have only held him for real, three or four times,

We missed so very very much of our little lad growing up. We missed him as a newborn, as a tiny little baby. Missed him crawling, getting into mischief.

Now he’s up on his feet, toddling on his push car. When we do get to see him, he will come running to us. We see him in the photos, and all the many videos.

Can never be the same, as holding him in our arms. I could lay blame on many, I suppose that would be petty. Could never give us back the happiness we missed.

So we wait and wait, for that wonderful date. When at last we can hold our little bundle of gold.

Walk

Annie Thompson

I strolled down the old railway track admiring all the wildlife butterflies and bees

Thinking how lovely are these Sitting on the bench with my eyes closed, taking in all the lovely noises and smells

It’s so tranquil, so divine

My mind goes back to a time when I sat here as trains went whizzing by Climbing onto the bridge and sitting on its wall, I was never afraid I would fall

Being a Tom boy, I was fearless and free nothing ever bothered me The train came and went by

I never thought for a moment I would never see it again ,they closed the track, the trains never came back

But with those thoughts in mind I open my eyes and back to now I’m so pleased they left the railway route walk open

For us all to enjoy, on foot or cycle Please come and enjoy
