Dons boss is so proud after win

-

MILTON Keynes Dons will go into their League One match away to Burton Albion tomorrow on a high after Scott Fraser’s late penalty helped them beat Plymouth Argyle 2-1 on Tuesday.

Cameron Jerome put the Dons ahead but Conor Grant equalised for Argyle on the hour.

A draw looked likely until, with one minute remaining, former Brewer Fraser netted a penalty after Joe Edwards handled.

“I think we deserved the win,” said manager Russell Martin.

“I think it was an excellent performance. The amount of passes and control the players had in a game on a pitch that was like that after three games in a week is incredible really.

“I’m extremely proud of the way they’re able to do that, the way they play together, their mentality and intensity not only to do that in possession but to defend was brilliant.

“We conceded a fantastic strike, which was a bit easier to accept than some of the goals we’ve conceded recently, and I just thought overall as a team performance it was fantastic.

“Andrew Fisher had to make two saves really, but apart from that we limited them to very little.”

KEY striker Colin KazimRichards is “very doubtful” for Derby County’s Championship clash against Stoke City tomorrow.

The 34-year-old limped off after 78 minutes of Tuesday night’s 2-2 draw with Brentford.

The Rams’ leading scorer – he has scored seven goals in 23 starts – has a hip injury.

“He is doubtful,” manager Wayne Rooney confirmed.

“Hopefully, we can get him ready to play some part, whether that is off the bench, I don’t know, but he is struggling at the minute.

“It is a hip injury which he had previously a few weeks ago. He has been carrying that injury and maybe gone a step too far.

“Hopefully, we can get him fit as quickly as possible. There is a still a chance he could play some part on Saturday but it is very doubtful.”
