Heartfelt tributes paid to family members lost through Covid

READERS have been paying tribute to loved ones lost to Covid over the past year.

Some chose to send in photograph­s of them (see opposite page). Here, then, are some of the tributes we have received:

David Hollis, 89, of Derby. Died on March 11, 2020. Window cleaner

“What a great man dad was, always laughing joking, loved his family, loved helping people loved the countrysid­e, holidays always had lots of stories to tell, an extraordin­ary man lived his life to the full.”

Nancy Brown, 91, of Mackworth. Died January 21, 2021. Mother of five

“Our Mum was a sociable lady who always had time for her family and friends. A kind heart and a warming smile.

“She was fiercely independen­t, active and full of life. She enjoyed dancing well into her mid eighties, which kept her young at heart, and she liked nothing more than a trip to the local garden centres, spending time in her garden and a visit to town which would always entail a cup of tea and a scone in Marks & Spencer’s. She is sadly missed by all her family.”

Win Martin, 88, of Derby. Died on April 13, 2020

“Mum, you didn’t deserve what you went through. We love and miss you so much, you were a big part of our lives and life has not been the same since you left. Now reunited with Dad. Rest in Peace xxx”

Marie Hodgson (Tessy), 89, of Preston, lived in Oakwood. Died on November 13, 2020

“To my beautiful mum, you was so brave throughout your illnesses, fought all the way to the bitter end. Such a beautiful mum and friend to many. We will always remember you, mum. Fly high, mum xx

Haji Mohammed Rafique Jammati 78. Died March 7, 2020. Lived in Fleet Street, Derby. Retired, worked for British Rail British Loco Works

His son wrote: “Not a day goes by when you’re not in our thoughts. You have left a big hole in our lives that will never be filled. Until the day we meet again by the will of the Almighty.”

Cliff Sisson, 71, of Ilkeston. Died April 4, 2020. Worked as a plumbing and heating engineer

“Forever in our hearts. Not a day passes by without thinking: why? You were taken so soon without a goodbye. Until some other day. Fly high xxxx Loving wife Linda, Debbie, Laura, Matthew and families Xxxx.”

Yvonne Nowicki, 63, of Derby

“She was an amazing woman, touched so many people’s hearts and would do anything for anyone.”

Kenneth Bradford, 90, of Long Eaton. Worked as a Movements Inspector British Rail.

“RIP Dad.”

Khofid Isbalsheet, NHS nurse, 27. Died September 2020

His sister said: “Khofid was talked about by many, for his ability to change the world. So many fell for him and they will remember him for the rest of their lives.”
