55 NEW CASES BUT NO FURTHER DEATHS IN HOSPITALS

THERE have been 55 new cases recorded across Derbyshire and Derby in the latest 24-hour reporting period, according to Government statistics – down from 72 yesterday.

There were 17 positive tests in Derby and 38 across the county. South Derbyshire recorded the biggest increase, 13. All the other areas had a new case update of fewer than 10, the lowest being in North East Derbyshire, with one.

The total number of cases in Derbyshire since the start of the pandemic is now 67,950. There have been no further Covid deaths in Derbyshire NHS trusts. There have been 2,090 coronaviru­srelated fatalities at Derbyshire hospitals in total.

Bolsover - 5,885 (six new cases) Chesterfie­ld - 6,036 (up two) Derby - 19,795 (17 new cases) Derbyshire Dales - 2,937 (up six) Erewash - 6,926 (four new cases) High Peak - 4,846 (two new cases) NE Derbyshire - 5,843 (one case) S Derbyshire - 7,185 (13 new cases).

The Government said a further 98 people had died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19 as of Wednesday for a total of 126,382.

Separate figures by the UK’s statistics agencies show there have now been 149,000 deaths in the UK where Covid-19 was mentioned on the death certificat­e.
