Heart-help shop set to reopen after long year

THE British Heart Foundation’s home store in Derby will soon reopen its doors with a fresh new look - and is welcoming donations and volunteers from the local community.

The shop in Babington Lane has been closed for over 12 months due to a major refurbishment, followed by the Covid-19 pandemic.

The store is set to officially reopen on Monday, April 12, and the BHF hopes those in the surrounding area will show their support by donating good quality items or popping in to snap up a bargain.

Karen Wilson, area manager at the BHF, said: “We are thrilled to be reopening our doors again to the Derby community, complete with a new look.

“We want to encourage as many people as possible to come and see the great bargains on offer. Now, more than ever, we urgently need public support so we can continue to support the charity’s important work.

“If you’re still looking to donate items you have been clearing out during lockdown, we would love to receive any unwanted quality sofas, furniture, homeware or electrical items. Donating couldn’t be easier or safer; for larger items, you can now arrange a free Covid-secure collection via our website. “Every pound raised in our shops helps us to support the 7.6 million people in the UK living with heart and circulatory diseases. Your donations can help us, help them.”

Free collections of larger items can be arranged through bhf.org. uk/derbycollection ahead of the store reopening.

New measures have been put in place to keep staff, volunteers and customers safe following coronavirus. Customers will be asked to social distance on the shop floor, all staff and volunteers have protective equipment, and donations and deliveries will be Covid-secure. For more information on how to get involved, visit bhf.org.uk/volunteer or call the shop on 01332 644335 after April 12.
