Dan’s cooking up something new for city food and drink scene

-

A NEW burger restaurant, which will also specialise in serving cocktails, is set to open soon in Derby city centre.

Feed Me Burgers will be opening in the Royal Buildings, in Victoria Street, in the premises vacated by the Elements Tea and Coffee House, according to the Government’s road map out of lockdown.

Owner Dan Khalifa, 25, is busy renovating his new outlet to get it ready to open for when Covid-19 restrictions are eased to allow customers to dine in at restaurants. This is currently set to be May 17.

Dan, a business management student soon to graduate from the University of Derby, has experience running a dessert shop called Eat My Waffle, in Alvaston, which he says he’s now sold to focus on his new venture.

Dan said: “The restaurant will specialise in ‘smashed style’ burgers, speciality loaded fries, buttermilk fried chicken, mac and cheese, my own gourmet raw edible cookie dough, and of course some amazing cocktail creations which I design myself different to classic and traditional cocktails.

“Derby is regenerating its city centre and I want to be a part of the new wave of food and drink establishments that will be here.

“I am passionate about good food, I’m an open-minded cook and I am looking to bring a flavourful and vivid style of food. I’m a creative individual and have an eye for trends and bringing brands to life.”

He said: “Our kitchen is yet to be completed so in the meantime we are delivering cocktails - giving people a taste of what vibes our place will have and build up the anticipation for the food! I am still building and decorating the shop but I’ll be looking to launch food takeaway and collections in April - I don’t have an exact date yet and of course open our doors to dine-in once the full restrictions have been lifted.”
