HUNDREDS OF VACANCIES WITHIN EASY REACH OF DERBY

LORRY drivers are one of the most indemand jobs in the UK as the pandemic and, in particular Brexit, have caused shortages.

Nearly 1.1 million jobs are available across the country, as bosses struggle to recruit staff. The Road Haulage Association says there is a shortage of 100,000 HGV drivers, which is causing shortages in the retail supply chain.

Job search engine Indeed has 882 jobs for HGV drivers listed within 25 miles of Derbyshire:

Compass Energy – up to £55,000 This fuel delivery firm is looking for a Class 1 HGV driver able to work nights. They are offering between £45,000 and £55,000. Immediate start. Mon-Fri.

Recruit4Yourself Ltd (to £54,080)

A Class 1 HGV driver is needed on a temporary basis, pay between £19 and £26 per hour. Hours are flexible but weekend working preferable.

J T Recruit Ltd – (to £50k

Involves transporting coronavirus vaccines across the country and is advertised as Monday to Friday work. Salary between £40,000 and £50,000pa, “guaranteed 10 hours’ pay a day”.

F. Sherwood & Sons Ltd – (to £50k) Waste removal and aggregate delivery specialist will pay between £35k and £50K for an experienced C&E, HGV or LGV driver.

Knights of Old - (to £49k)

Multiple drivers needed to join their workforce in Foston. Salaries dependent on shifts: Days upward of £40k, nights upwards of £47k. Long-haul offered at a salary of more than £49k.

Class 1 HGV drivers needed, based in Burnaston. £18 ph for days, £20.6 nights, and £27 for overtime above 45 hours. Monday to Friday direct route to repeat locations.

Family-run business based in Belper offer £170 per shift and a £500 bonus for signing after a probation. Day and night shifts for general haulage.

Class 1 HGV driver with at least two years’ experience and experience with fridge work, needed ASAP. Pay £19£21ph, variety of shifts.

Castle Donnington firm wants Derbybased drivers for shifts throughout the week. Some pallet loading and unloading required. £13.50-£20ph.

To become a HGV driver you need to have a full UK drivers’ licence and be over 18. You need to take your theory and practical test and D4 medical form. You will also need the Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC).
