SOME of the most-wanted criminals in a part of Derbyshire have been dealt with by the police as part of planned “strike day” operations.

It saw 22 people dealt with by officers from the response and safer neighbourhood teams in South Derbyshire over three days for crimes including domestic violence, assaults and racial behaviour.

Among those dealt with was a “keyboard warrior” who made threats through email and social media and a prisoner who was greeted at the prison gates as he left for threatening his ex-partner.

A woman who was being interviewed by police over 11 offences also racially abused the officer and threw water over them.

A spokesman for the Swadlincote police safer neighbourhood team, which is an arm of Derbyshire Police, said: “Operation ‘strike’ Swadlincote police go into overdrive – 22 offenders dealt with.

“Safer neighbourhood team officer Rob McGlade has been planning strike day operations targeting the most-wanted offenders in Swadlincote.

“The operation is only three days in and resulted in 22 offenders being dealt with by response and safer neighboured officers.

“The offences that have been dealt with have varied from domestic violence, assaults, racial public order.

“Brief summary of some – positive action on domestic violence. An offender released from prison was gate arrested for making threats to kill against his ex-partner whilst still in prison. “A domestic violence protection order was issued against him. This was breached and he now finds himself behind cell bars, minus a front door, thanks to excellent work by safer neighbourhood team and Group 4 local policing unit officers, especially PC Langley.

“Keyboard warrior – a male who thought it was okay to make threats via email and social media found himself behind bars with all his electrical devices seized.

“Wanted for 11 offences – a female who had committed 11 offences and decided to throw water with a barrage of racist abuse at the interviewing officers will find she will be spending more time in prison. The last drink will be on us.

“Wait till mother finds out – Why would you fail to stop for safer neighbourhood team officers Holmes and Dean in your Silver Vauxhall Astra when the car is registered to your mother?

“Could it be because you have no licence or insurance? Notice of intended prosecution on its way to you both.

“More strike days planned so expect that early morning knock on the door. One team.”
