Rescued dogs are given a pampering as police check on progress
OFFICERS HAD REMOVED THE ANIMALS FROM APPALLING CONDITIONS AT FARM
MISTREATED dogs rescued from appalling conditions at a farm have been given a pampering session as they recover from their ordeal.
Some of the dogs were seized by police from a farm in Newhall where they had been living with little access to food or water. They were taken to the vets for medical attention after an operation in August.
Police have now issued an update on how the animals are doing as they are being looked after at Crowfoot Kennels in Church Broughton, where they are recovering well and have now received a pampering and grooming session.
Officers from Swadlincote Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT), who have been keeping tabs on the dogs, have said the pets were feeling more confident after their haircuts and grooming.
They went along to visit the puppies and dogs and have praised staff at the kennels for the care they have given the animals. In a statement on Facebook, a spokesman from Swadlincote SNT said: “The team visited some of the pups rescued from our operations a short while ago.
“As can be seen from the photographs, some of them have had a much-needed pampering session and, although they may look a bit nervous, we’ve been reassured they feel much, much better after their haircuts and are really coming out of their shells!
“Crowfoots Kennels have been fantastic in caring for these dogs and they are seeing improvement every day.
“There was a lot of fuss given and both dogs and officers came away much happier.”
Animals, including dogs and livestock, were seized from the farm in Newhall. Police, who have not revealed the farm’s exact location.
The team carried out the operation with environmental health, dog wardens, animal health, Trading Standards and the RSPCA.
