New look for village Co-op after revamp

A CO-OP store in Derbyshire has undergone a major revamp costing more than £142,000.

The Central England Co-op in Horsley Woodhouse has been given a makeover during recent months.

The transforma­tion has seen numerous changes and improvemen­ts made, including an extended refrigerat­ion section with a large range of chilled beers and wine.

A spokesman for the Main Street store said it had undergone a “raft of updates to give it a fresher, lighter feel and to include several new ranges”.

There is an improved “food to go” section with new features such as a new Tango Ice Blast machine, rollover hot dogs and a free water refill station.

New external signs have also been put up, as has a new outdoor seating area and a bicycle repair station.

Store manager Bryan Towle said: “It feels like we have a brand new store and it is fantastic reward for the hard work of all the team. It feels like a fresh start after all the challenges of the last couple of years.

“The feedback to the changes has been really positive from our customers which has been great to hear, and I would like to thank the community for their patience while the work has been completed but I hope they agree with us that it has been worth it.”

The store is open every day from 7pm until 10pm, and is store also offers a lifesaving defibrilla­tor, cash machine, Lottery, Collect Plus/Paypoint, in-store bakery and a customer car park.

The Co-op food store at Wardgate Way, in Holme Hall, Chesterfie­ld, has also been given a major facelift with a total of £90,000 spent.
