Thousands in fines for those who broke the rules

PEOPLE not wearing masks during lockdown and partygoers flouting the rules have been fined thousands of pounds in court in Derby.

Others leaving their homes when not permitted to do so have also received heavy financial penalties for by magistrate­s in the city.

In June, Derbyshire police praised the public for their behaviour throughout the coronaviru­s pandemic, stating that restrictio­ns were easing largely down to the efforts of the vast majority of people living in the county.

It came following the publicatio­n of data released at the time which showed how many Covid-related fines were issued in the county and every other police authority in England.

It revealed that between Monday, March 27 last year (when the pandemic began) to May 15, 2021, more than 1,600 fines were issued by Derbyshire police.

Despite this, nearly 30 individual­s from across the county and further afield were dealt with for their offending during one day last week in court.

Frantisek Balog, 40, of Normanton Road, Normanton, was fined £1,760 for participat­ing in a gathering of two or more people when restrictio­ns were in place in Almond Street, Normanton, on January 16.

Ladislav Balog, 39, of Belgrave Street, Derby, was fined £1,760 for entering a property without wearing a face mask when restrictio­ns were in place in Normanton Road, Normanton, on April 16.

Rachel Booth, 21, of Rose Wood Close, Newbold, was fined £1,760 for participat­ing in a gathering of two or more people when restrictio­ns were in place in Rose Wood Close, Newbold, on January 29.

Kane Brown, 28, of Peasehill Road, Ripley, was fined £500 for participat­ing in a gathering of two or more people when restrictio­ns were in place in Beighton Street, Ripley, on February 6.

Samuel Curry, 19, of Humbleton Drive, Mackworth, was fined £1,760 for leaving his address and being in Matlock Bath when restrictio­ns were in place on February 19.

Milan Gabor, 31, of Grover Street, Normanton, was fined £1,760 for entering a property without wearing a face mask when restrictio­ns were in place in Lower Dale Road, Normanton, on March 18.

Morgan Helliwell, 19, of Lansbury Drive, South Normanton, was fined £1,760 for leaving his address and being in High View Road, South Normanton, when restrictio­ns were in place on January 23.

Christophe­r Hilton, 44, of Nottingham Road, Codnor, was fined £1,760 for participat­ing in a gathering of two or more people when restrictio­ns were in place in Coldwell Street, Wirksworth, on February 19.

Zbianiew Jaskowiac, 46, of Grosvenor Street, Normanton, was fined £1,760 for participat­ing in a gathering of two or more people when restrictio­ns were in place in Kitchener Avenue, Derby, on January 22.

Ngarukue Kavetuna, 25, of Peet Street, Derby, was fined £1,760 for entering a property without wearing a face mask when restrictio­ns were in place in Normanton Road, Normanton, on April 14.

Adeel Khan, 28, of Cambridge Street, Normanton, was fined £1,760 for participat­ing in a gathering of two or more people when restrictio­ns were in place in Derby Road, Derby, on February 5.

Damian Kwiek, 32, of Boyer Street, Derby, was fined £1,760 for entering a property without wearing a face mask when restrictio­ns were in place in Normanton Road,

Normanton, on March 18.

Marika Lackova, 30, of Loudon Street, Normanton, was fined £1,760 for participat­ing in a gathering of two or more people when restrictio­ns were in place in Loudon Street, Normanton, on January 30.

Jarrad Leason, 29, of Rosebud Way, Holmewood, Chesterfie­ld, was fined £1,760 for participat­ing in a gathering of two or more people when restrictio­ns were in place in Cuttholme Road, Loundsley Green, on February 7.

Gheorghe Manascu, 42, of Chesterfie­ld Road, Alfreton, was fined £733 for participat­ing in a gathering of two or more people when restrictio­ns were in place in Chesterfie­ld Road, Alfreton, on February 22.

Craig Merrett, 33, of Front Street, Fritchley, Belper, was fined £1,760 for participat­ing in a gathering of two or more people when restrictio­ns were in place in Beighton Street, Ripley, on February 6.

Shaun Muir, 28, of Cocayne Street South, Derby, was fined £1,760 for participat­ing in a gathering of two or more people when restrictio­ns were in place in Gower Street, Derby, on January 26.

Wayne Oldfield, 33, of Ash Grove, Mastin Moor, Chesterfie­ld, was fined £1,760 for participat­ing in a gathering of two or more people when restrictio­ns were in place in Ash Grove, Mastin Moor, on January 29.

Rachel Orme, 29, of Alfred Road, Kilburn, was fined £1,760 for participat­ing

in a gathering of two or more people when restrictio­ns were in place in Alfred Road, Kilburn, on February 6.

Dwayne Padmore, 38, of Tintagel Close, Pear Tree, was fined £1,760 for entering a property without wearing a face mask when restrictio­ns were in place in Kingsway, Derby, on February 5.

Cameron Pell, 20, of Morleyfiel­ds Close, Ripley, was fined £1,760 for participat­ing in a gathering of two or more people when restrictio­ns were in place in Wilmot Street, Heanor, on January 19.

Daniel Pohlodko, 37, of Holcombe Street, Normanton, was fined £1,760 for participat­ing in a gathering of two or more people when restrictio­ns were in place in Holcombe Street, Normanton, on January 20.

Donna Robinson, 38, of Stamford Street, Ilkeston, was fined £1,760 for participat­ing in a gathering of two or more people when restrictio­ns were in place in Critchley Street, Ilkeston, on February 11.

Martyn Stone, 64, of Coupland Place, Somercotes, was fined £1,760 for participat­ing in a gathering of two or more people when restrictio­ns were in place in Coupland Place, Somercotes, on January 19.

Kieran Yates, 19, of Preston Avenue, Alfreton, was fined £1,760 for participat­ing in a gathering of two or more people when restrictio­ns were in place in Welbeck Close, Alfreton, on January 22.
