DERBYSHIRE’S Road Policing Unit had a busy start to their Thursday morning, with reports of two cars turning over onto their roofs and a collision on the M1 to deal with.

It started at just after 3am in Duckmanton, where the unit posted on their social media channels about a car that had been found on its roof.

According to the post, the red vehicle was allegedly going “too flipping fast” around a slight bend, but a later investigation by officers discovered that the driver was allegedly “over twice the drink-drive limit”.

“Somehow, occupants suffer not a single scratch. Driver had his licence five months,” the post added.

The driver was arrested at the scene and has been charged to appear in court.

Moments later, the unit posted about a car allegedly “stopping dead in lane one after challenging the central reservation to a duel” on the M1. The unit was called about the

VW Polo after it had been reported to be driving badly.

Another call to officers then came in to report it had struck the central reservation and was sitting in lane one of the motorway.

When officers arrived, they found the driver was allegedly over the drink-drive limit, they were arrested and charged to appear in court.

Finally, the unit tweeted about another car that had been found to be on its roof in Darley Moor, following a two-vehicle collision.

Derbyshire Dales Response Unit was first on the scene and found one car in a hedge and another blocking one lane on its roof. Both cars looked badly damaged with officers saying those involved had suffered “serious injuries”.

“Investigations ongoing and vehicles now recovered” continued the post.

No further information has been given about how badly injured the people involved were, but the road has been cleared and reopened.
