SARAH’S VORACIOUS BUNNY CHEWS HIS WAY THROUGH LOUIS VUITTON BAG, KURT GEIGER

A DERBY rabbit has caused thousands of pounds’ worth of damage to its owner’s designer shoes, clothes and, on one occasion, nibbled an expensive Louis Vuitton bag.

In addition to the Louis Vuitton bag, the cute bunny has nibbled through Kurt Geiger trainers and a friend’s Alexander McQueen shoes.

Owner Sarah Holling claims that the hungry rabbit has caused more than £2,000 of damage to high-end designer goods in the three months that she’s owned the six-month-old mini lop, named Binx. She says he chews everything in sight, even her hair.

The 35-year-old fashion fan said she did not know whether to laugh or cry when she woke up one morning to discover he’d been munching away all night at “drastic” amounts of her hair that she had spent 18 months growing and spent hundreds of pounds on.

To rub salt into the wound, her free-roaming bunny then destroyed her first designer handbag that she said was her pride and joy and has also chewed away at £560-worth of trainers.

Although Sarah said she was at her wits’ end with Binx’s shenanigans, which are costing her a fortune, she said she has seen the funny side and would never cage him as she loves him to pieces.

She said: “He’s probably destroyed thousands of pounds worth of stuff, including my hair. It’s a lot of money when the bunny only cost me £60.

“He chews everything – my clothes, trainers – anything he can get his teeth on basically he’s having a bit of. He’s an absolute nightmare but I love him to pieces.

“I can’t own anything now

because it all belongs to Binx. “I was absolutely devastated about the hair because I got my extensions out last year during lockdown and spent hundreds growing it, all these treatments and everything.

“I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry about this but it’s so outrageous, I can only laugh. And then the bag, I was literally lost for words.”

Sarah, who works as a flight attendant, said Binx has nibbled away at her £140 Kurt Geiger trainers as well as her friend’s £420 Alexander McQueen shoes and has resorted to giving him cardboard to deter him from any more designer gear.

Sarah said: “He stays in a cage overnight but there was one night I’d come back and had a few wines and thought that he’d been really good as I’d left him free-roaming and I’d give him a try to let him stay out that night. I’m a deep sleeper anyway so regardless of if I’d had a wine or not, I wouldn’t have woken up for an earthquake.

“He took such a lot of hair, like drastic amounts. He would have just been munching away God knows all night probably.

“I woke up in the morning like ‘oh my God.’ I thought all my hair had fallen out and I was feeling underneath it and was like ‘what on earth is this?’ I looked in the mirror and had this big chunk out of my fringe and I was like ‘what has happened?’

“My sister’s a hairdresser and she was going through it underneath and was like ‘I don’t think I can show you what he’s done’ and I said ‘why, is it bad?’ and she was like ‘yeah, and I know how hard you’ve tried to grow it, it’s really bad I’m going to have to chop it all off.’

“I did see the funny side to it, thankfully. I’ve not been upset about it because I just think it’s such a strange, hilarious story. Nobody quite believes me that he did that. They’re like ‘what? I didn’t know rabbits ate hair.’”

Sarah predicted that Binx ate around 20 grams of her hair and she even called the vet out of concern who was equally as stunned. She said she had treated herself to the Louis Vuitton pouches in March for her birthday and had a set of three but Binx’s razor sharp nashers ruined two of them.

Sarah said: “The bag was my fault. I left it on the sofa. I was rushing out to go to dinner, popped it on there, completely forgot about it and when I got back spotted it on the sofa and my heart was like ‘oh no, please tell me he’s not been up there’ and then he’d completely destroyed it.

“I don’t really own designer stuff and worked really hard to get that bag and it was like my pride and joy. I made such a big point of telling everyone ‘I’ve got this Louis bag, I’ve treated myself.’

“I still can’t believe he’s eaten it. He’s got very expensive taste.

“He’s had all my Apple phone wires that I’ve had to replace about five times – this bunny rabbit is costing me a fortune.”

The animal lover said that her new house is going to be kitted out with a walk-in-wardrobe that will be locked at all times to keep them away from ‘naughty’ Binx.

“He’s just a little godsend and is the best company but then he’s got another side to him. A destructive side.”

He chews everything – my clothes, trainers, anything he can get his teeth on.
