Spanish fashion brand to open store at Derbion

SPANISH fashion brand Mango will open its new store at Derby’s biggest shopping centre this week.

The Barcelona-founded retailer’s new branch will open in a 5,000 square foot unit on Level 2 at the Derbion on Friday.

The brand’s first stand-alone store in the East Midlands will offer a range of women’s fashion and accessories, plus menswear, childrenswear and homeware.

The opening was first announced by the Derbion in June when hoardings went up for the store, which will be located next to River Island.

Adam Tamsett, general manager at the Derbion, said: “We’re thrilled to welcome Mango to the centre as we’re confident that the brand’s trend-led contemporary fashion offer will appeal to our visitors. It’s opening just in time for Christmas, so the store will have plenty to offer for those shopping for the fashion-lover in their life.

“We have welcomed several new stores over the last few months, with many more to follow, clearly demonstrating a real sense of confidence in the city.

“The team at Derbion remains committed to bringing new and exciting experiences to the centre and we look forward to announcing more news soon.”

Back in late August, the Derbion announced that a Frasers department store would be opening next year in the city shopping centre’s biggest unit, which has been empty since Debenhams closed for the final time in early May.

Last month, hoardings went up for Frasers on Level 1 and signs advertising a new Sports Direct store on Level 2 are also now visible to passing shoppers. Frasers Group also confirmed earlier this year that it is taking the former Topshop unit on Level 2. Luxury retailer Flannels will be taking space there and is set to open before Christmas.
