MuddiBrooke ‘nearly spat tea out’ over EP response!

-

MUDDIBROOKE are making waves with their debut EP Lunacy, which has been getting worldwide airplay.

The Derby grunge trio launched the six-track EP in October and have watched it take off rapidly.

Apart from widespread radio play, it has been reviewed favourably in several magazines and, for all that the trio have been around the local music scene a good while now, that is a first for them.

“I’m so pleased to say it’s doing unbelievably well,” says Harriet McDonnell, known as Brooke for the purposes of the band.

“It’s achieved radio airplay all over the world, including on the BBC and Kerrang! Radio.

“Also, within the first 24 hours of release, it got to over 18,000 streams on Spotify (it’s now on 21,000).

“I went on to the app just thinking it would be at 200 plays or so... I nearly spat my tea out!

“As well as that, we’ve also been featured in numerous music magazines that you can buy in shops.

“None of us had ever been in a magazine before, so we’ve been over the moon. The amount of great feedback we’ve had is astonishing.”

Astonishing, maybe but it’s happening because singerguitarist Harriet, along with Anna Melidone (bass) and Mary Prince (drums), have been making all the right moves – fun, professional videos, good gigs and nothing too rushed.

“We had offers from a couple of labels but we have been very cautious as we have heard many horror stories about awful contracts,” adds Harriet.

“But, a month ago, we were picked up by a label called Konic Records and we signed to their sync roster.

“This means they will take our tracks and push them towards going on Netflix shows, adverts, films, programmes, etc.

“The people who run Konic are lovely – we’re lucky to have found such a friendly label who care about their artists.”
