WHO’LL CAPTURE THE CASTLE?

MARION McMULLEN LOOKS AT THE NEW LINE-UP FOR I’M A CELEBRITY... GET ME OUT OF HERE!

-

I’M A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! is back and that means only one thing – the time has come for a new cast of celebrities to battle it out in TV’s toughest entertainment challenge.

Due to coronavirus restrictions the show will once again take place at historic Gwrych Castle, in Abergele, North Wales instead of the Aussie jungle.

Ant and Dec will be back to host as the celebs undertake gruelling trials to win food and treats as they try to become King or Queen of the Castle.

Last year’s highlights included the stars abseiling before Giovanna Fletcher was crowned the winner.

So who is ready for action this year?

Former Strictly Come Dancing judge and choreographer Dame Arlene Phillips, 78

Craig (Revel Horwood) will say ‘Darling, are you mad?!’

I still can’t believe I am doing it either but I love and admire everybody who has done the show, I admire their bravery and I have spoken to so many people who have done it.

Everyone has loved the experience and told me how it has added something new to their lives and that is why I have said yes this year after being approached before.

Broadcaster and former BBC Breakfast host Louise Minchin, 53

It is very different to sitting on the BBC Breakfast sofa and it will be scary and daunting but it will also be lots of fun.

This time last year I had a broken ankle and I literally sat on the sofa at home watching every single minute of it thinking, ‘Oh my gosh that castle looks incredible, one day I would love to be part of it’ and now I am!

Veteran broadcaster Richard Madeley, 65

My children think it is hilarious I am taking part!

I spent many years on my grandparents’ farm in Shropshire. I am used to animals, rats, so I’ve had all that knocked out of me. I don’t like heights though and what bothers me the most is the route into the castle. Maybe I will have to walk a plank over a 150ft open space.

Olympian Matty Lee, 23, won the men’s 10-metre synchro gold with teammate Tom Daley in Tokyo

When I told Tom, he was in shock. He is so excited for me and he has always been so supportive and helped me a lot over the past three years.

People always see me as very composed and serious on the diving board. This will be a nice opportunity to let people get to know me better.

Radio 1Xtra DJ and podcaster Snoochie Shy, 29

One of the things I am most looking forward to is the trials! They are all crazy. I’ve seen bugs go up people’s noses before and I am scared bugs are going to go up my private parts.

I am actually quite a shy person when I am outside my comfort zone. I might be quite shy in the first couple of days but I also will definitely be a team player. I want to show everyone how to twerk too.

Music producer and DJ Shahid Khan, known by his stage name Naughty Boy, 36

I want people to know the real me. I am not a celebrity at all. My music is the celebrity and now is the chance for me to show people what I am really like.

Whilst I want to be a good team player, I would not mind winning.

I would never expect that [to win] and it would be an achievement for me.

Four-time Paralympic gold champion and Celebrity MasterChef winner Kadeena Cox, 30

I am scared of spiders, I don’t like rats, I don’t like snakes, and I don’t like heights. But I am hoping the

athlete in me will want to do it for the team and just get through that tough moment.

I will scream afterwards.

The Saturdays singer Frankie Bridge, 32

People assume that if you are in a pop group you lead a really glamorous lifestyle and that I wouldn’t want to get stuck in, but I know I will give everything a go.

I’m scared of rats, I am a fussy eater and I have a bit of a phobia of ketchup. Any of the eating challenges will be my idea of Hell.

I also hate spiders in my own home, being trapped in small spaces is a big thing for me and pretty much all of that is likely to happen.

Emmerdale star Danny Miller, 30

I am scared of the eating trials. I can’t even brush my teeth without being sick and I am dreading it if my gagging reflexes start, but that said, it won’t stop me doing the trials.

I’d like to show everyone what I am like in real life rather than my soap character, Aaron Dingle!

French former Premier League footballer David Ginola, 54

I’m scared of rats, I am a fussy eater and I have a bit of a phobia of ketchup. Any of the eating challenges will be my idea of Hell Frankie Bridge

Because we have been in lockdown many times over the past two years, being locked in a castle for I’m A Celebrity... won’t be an issue for me.

I am going to miss my baby girl. I have been sharing her life every day since she was born and it’s not just me. It is also about her missing her dad for a long time. That feeling is going to be difficult.

I’m A Celebrity ... Get Me Out Of Here! starts on ITV tomorrow at 9pm
