Tom, Kay hit four each for leaders

IT was raining goals in the Midlands Regional Alliance – 67 scored across 15 matches, writes Craig Gibbons.

The biggest win of the day came in the Mel Williams Premier Division, as four goals apiece from Tom Sheffield and Kay Anderson guided leaders FC Sunnyhill to an emphatic 14-2 victory away at second-bottom Ashbourne Reserves.

Tyrel Francis (2), Elliott Meehan (2), Kyle Fitzsimmon­s and Brooklyn Bruce completed the scoring for Sunnyhill, while Richard Coates and Regan Ford were on target for Ashbourne.

There was an 11-goal thriller at St Peter’s Park where Tibshelf got the better of Little Eaton 7-4 with the help of four goals from Lewis Macaskill. Ionut Dumitrache, Nathan Flint and Jack Maltby also netted for the Oilers. Josh Lambert (2), Jack Hibbitt and Gav McCready were Eaton’s goalscorer­s.

Sleetmoor United consolidat­ed third place as goals from Niall Slack (2) and Michael Chapman fired them to a 3-0 away win over basement boys Rowsley 86 Reserves. Meanwhile, Joe Handley, Sam Handley and Jacob O’Keefe fired Mayfield to a 3-0 success at Cromford & Wirksworth Town Reserves.

In Drayton PACS Division One, second-placed Aston Village missed the chance to close the gap on out-of-action leaders Newhall United after they were held to a 2-2 draw by mid-table Glapwell U21s. Cameron Davis and Jack Longden got the goals for Glapwell, Joe Lee and Chris Thomas for Village.

Third-placed Mickleover Athletic drew 1-1 at Wirksworth Ivanhoe Reserves. Damien Vinall scored for Ivanhoe, Alex Lawrence replying.

Willington beat Melbourne Dynamo Reserves 3-2 while a Mitchell Bamford brace and strike from Craig Saville fired Hilton Harriers Reserves to a 3-0 win at Burton United.

Drayton PACS Division Two leaders Real Medina made it eight wins out of eight, beating Punjab United 2-1. Mike Wilson and Ben Holder hit the back of the net to ensure Medina maintained their perfect record. Jack Cook replied for United.
