Fans can make all difference in Albion Cup bid

-

A BIG home crowd on Saturday can help earn Burton Albion another chance to take on a Premier League giant.

The Brewers have had their share of cup adventures in recent years, with memorable matches against Manchester City, Manchester United, Liverpool, Aston Villa and Leicester City in the previous five seasons.

Those have all come in the League Cup and Brewers chairman Ben Robinson has called on supporters to turn out in force to help their team book a place in the FA Cup third round, when teams from the top two divisions will enter the competition.

First, Burton have to get past Staffordshire rivals Port Vale in a second round clash at the Pirelli Stadium on Saturday (3pm kick-off).

Vale, who saw off Accrington Stanley 5-1 in the first round and are currently fifth in League Two, are on course to sell their full allocation of tickets and are expected to generate a strong vocal backing for their team.

That means the game will be allticket and there will no opportunity to pay in cash at the turnstiles for Albion supporters.

The club has reduced the price of match tickets in the hope of making it as sellout and Robinson is hoping Brewers fans will respond by cheering their team to victory.

“Port Vale may be in League Two but they are having a very good season and have already beaten a League One club to get to the second round,” he said.

“We know our supporters can make a massive difference and I hope as many as possible will postpone the Christmas shopping and come and get behind Jimmy, Dino and the players.

“We have lowered our normal match-day prices to make the game as accessible as possible so we are hoping for a good turn-out that will help us secure a victory.

“The FA Cup is very important to clubs like ours and we are very close to a big tie and we need your support to help us get there.”

Before 5pm on Friday, seat tickets are £15 adults and £8 under-17s, with terrace tickets £12 adults and £8 under 17s.

Tickets bought after 5pm on Friday will be £2 more.
