A DERBYSHIRE man who committed child sex offences has been jailed for 27 months.

Louis Clegg, 28, was accused of sexual assault of a child and two counts of sexual activity with a child.

Clegg, of Milton Street, Long Eaton, was found guilty on all three counts by a jury that delivered its verdict on Friday, October 8, at Nottingham Crown Court.

One of his victims attended Clegg’s sentencing hearing on Friday, November 26, and told the court how his actions had affected her.

He touched her inside her pants and she complained to her mother the next day, but there was no formal action, said Judge Gregory Dickinson QC, the Recorder of Nottingham.

The victim, who cannot be identified due to the nature of the offence, was aged 17 when she told her father.

In her victim impact statement, she described the effect this continues to have on her now as a young woman and she suffers from anxiety and questions men in general.

Another victim, who is now 23, described the long-term effect on her after he was convicted of two offences of sexual activity with a child.

When the abuse was happening, she did not know he was violating her and it dawned on her as she grew older.

He kissed her on the lips when she was aged 13 and the second offence was in her private area, the court heard.

The judge said Clegg will serve half his sentence and the remainder on licence and he will be subject to a sexual harm prevention order for ten years and a restraining order not to contact the victims for ten years.

“You will be barred from working with children,” concluded Judge Dickinson.
