POLICE have completed an investigation into the death of a woman in Derby without charging anyone in relation to the fatal incident.

Officers launched an inquiry after the 33-year-old was found seriously injured at a property in Moss Street, California, in the early hours of Saturday.

The woman died at the Queen’s Medical Centre, in Nottingham, later the same day and officers launched a murder investigation.

In the course of their enquiries, three men and a woman were arrested in connection with her death and questioned by police.

There was also an increased police presence in the Moss Street area in the days afterwards as the case moved forward.

However, Derbyshire police now say that they have finished the investigation and all four suspects have been released without charge.

The force says that following enquiries, it has been concluded that her death should no longer be treated as suspicious.

A police statement said “Three men and a woman were initially arrested in connection with the death. However, detectives investigating the incident have determined that her death was not suspicious. The murder investigation has been concluded and all four people released without charge.”

Police added that they have submitted a file to the coroner in relation to the death, and that any further enquiries will be carried out on behalf of the coroner’s office.

An inquest is expected to be carried out in due course, which happens when there is reasonable cause to suspect a person’s death is due to anything other than natural causes, with a coroner investigating the circumstances behind their passing.

Derbyshire police have not released the identity of the woman.
