Brereton-Diaz fires Blackburn

BEN Brereton Diaz’s brace, taking him to 19 for the season, pointed Blackburn Rovers to a 4-0 home win over Birmingham City, moving them to third in the Championship.
John Buckley and Reda Khadra had Rovers two up before Brereton Diaz was brought down and got up to score from the spot. He added another 10 minutes from time for Blackburn’s fifth successive League win.
Second-placed Bournemouth slipped up 1-0 defeat away to Middlesbrough, where Andraz Sporar’s penalty made the difference.
Revitalised Nottingham Forest move up to seventh, beating Hull City 2-1.
Hull scored first through Keane Lewis-Potter just before half-time but Lewis Grabban equalised with a penalty 10 minutes after the break and Brennan Johnson netted the winner after 72 minutes.
Huddersfield Town’s first win in five games came by 3-2 away to Bristol City.
City took the lead two minutes in through Andreas Weimann before Danny Ward’s penalty for the Terriers was saved by Dan Bentley.
Howerver, Huddersfield equalised just before half-time through Duane Holmes and Danel Sinani put them in front a minute into the second half.
Ward made up for his earlier penalty miss by nodding home their third before Weimann scored a consolation for the Robins in stoppage time.
Blackpool ended a seven-game winless run with a 3-1 victory at home to Peterborough United.
Siriki Dembele put Posh in front 10 minutes in, going round the goalkeeper and slotting home, before Keshi Anderson equalised.
The Seasiders took the lead in the 86th minute through Sonny Carey and Jerry Yates scored a third in the 90th minute.
