TWO Derby drivers were snapped speeding on the A52 Brian Clough Way 15 times between them in a little over a month.

Southern Derbyshire Magistrates’ Court heard how Aaron Jeffers was caught by fixed penalty cameras eight times while driving at above the 50mph limit between December 23, 2020 and February 1, 2021.

And Zaneta Stachera was snapped travelling at above the 50mph limit seven times in just three days.

Their recent hearings were told how Jeffers, 34, of Cordelia Way, Chellaston, was caught on each occasion speeding at a figure between 57mph and 61mph.

He was fined £800 and was ordered to pay £110 costs, an £80 victim surcharge and was disqualified from driving for nine months

And Stachera, 31, of Namur Close, Littleover, was captured speeding between 61mph and 73mph between December 26 and 29, 2020.

She was fined £1,224 and was ordered to pay a £117 victim surcharge and had her licence endorsed with a whopping total of 15 penalty points.

Derby City Council sealed the order for the speed limit changes associated with the A52 Wyvern Transport Improvement Scheme on February 27, 2020, with the speed limit changes becoming effective the following day.

Speed limit signs and average speed cameras were installed in both directions along the A52 Brian Clough Way between the Pentagon and Raynesway junctions.

In a statement released at the time, the authority said: “The route has a poor road safety record and in a five-year period prior to June 2018 the police recorded 107 collisions on the A52 between the county boundary and the Pentagon island, resulting in 162 casualties.

“Of these, two were fatal, nine resulted in serious injuries and the remainder involved slight injuries.

“Taking into account these issues, the speed limit has been reduced from the national speed limit to 50mph between the Pentagon island and the trunk road boundary at Spondon.

“This is the same as the current 50mph speed limit on Raynesway.”

Other motorists who have recently been convicted of speeding on Brian Clough way include:

Shona Jefferson, 41, of Woodland Road, Derby, was fined £66 and ordered to pay a £34 victim surcharge and had her licence endorsed with three penalty points for speeding at 58mph on December 28, 2020.

Steven Moon, 32, of Perth Street, Chaddesden, was fined £120 and ordered to pay £110 costs, a £110 victim surcharge and had his licence endorsed with six penalty points for speeding at 71mph on December 12, 2020.

Olivia Hamilton, 20, of Tamworth Road, Duffield, was fined £176 and ordered to pay £90 costs and a £34 victim surcharge for twice being caught speeding – at 63mph and 58mph – both on February 7, 2020.

Anna Pappa, 40, of Derwent Rise, Spondon, was fined £376 and ordered to pay £110 costs, a £38 victim surcharge and was disqualified from driving for six months for speeding at 67mph on December 28, 2020.
