Roadworks taking place in the city

-

A DERBY road will remain closed this week for resurfacing works that will take a month to complete – one of a number of roadworks taking place around the city.

St Mark’s Road, Chaddesden closed on Wednesday for resurfacing between Nottingham Road and the junction between Berwick Avenue and Nairn Avenue, and will be shut for four weeks.

The road will be closed between 9.30am and 3.30pm, and will affect those travelling to Derwent Community School, the Racecourse Playing Fields and and surrounding streets including Lothian Place, Dorset Street and Monmouth Street.

In a letter sent to residents on the road, Derby City Council said: “We appreciate this work is disruptive and essential journeys could be delayed.

“Our main aim is to get the work completed as quickly and safely as possible. We will do our best to make sure all properties directly affected by the work can be accessed with minimum disruption.

“We will not be able to meet everyone’s personal requirements, so you may experience some delays in gaining access, at certain points of construction. Please be patient. There will be traffic marshals to direct traffic and assist you. Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times.”

Other routes due to undergo roadworks this week are as follows:

Reigate Drive: Resurfacing works are taking place on a stretch of Reigate Drive, Mackworth, which is expected to cause disruption until Wednesday, January 19. The work is taking place between 9.30am and 3.30pm between Westbourne Park and Finchley Avenue. It will also see new road markings.
