Red Devils winger may be on Rams radar for a loan move

- By AMIE WILSON & MATT LEE

DERBY County are reported to be one of the clubs interested in Manchester United’s Amad Diallo.

The winger looks set to leave Old Trafford on loan this month, with a number of clubs linked with him.

Last week, Rams manager Wayne Rooney revealed the club are close to bringing a new player to Pride Park.

“I have spoken to the administrators, it is all very positive,” said Rooney.

“I am allowed to re-sign players, which we are under way with, and I am close to bringing a player in as well. Hopefully, it will get announced soon.”

Diallo has been limited to only one appearance for the Red Devils this season, playing 68 minutes in a 1-1 draw against Young Boys in the Champions League.

Journalist Alan Nixon claims that Rooney is keen to take Diallo on loan and the Rams manager’s association with United may work in Derby’s favour.

Meanwhile, Rams youngster Lee Buchanan is believed to be attracting interest from a number of clubs in England and overseas.

The 20-year-old defender has made 16 appearances in all competitions so far this season but is currently working his way back from a knee injury.

As well as reported interest from Nottingham Forest, the Derby Telegraph understands Celtic, West Ham United and Watford are also keen.

And Belgian top-flight club Cercle Brugge are also believed to be keeping close tabs on the 20-year-old.

The Rams are reluctant to sell the young full-back. His existing deal at Pride Park is set to expire this summer but the Rams are looking to take up an option to extend it by 12 months.

If the Rams are forced into selling one of their younger players, Rooney has made it clear they will not be forced into accepting any bids below their valuations.

“There have been bids for players, I know that. Those bids have been turned away because they were absolutely ridiculous bids,” Rooney said.

“It would be the equivalent of me walking into, say, a Ferrari garage with £10,000 in my pocket – you get turned away.

“If there are going to be any bids coming in for players, they have to be the value of the players and it has to be whether I am happy for the player to leave the club or not. That is where we are at.

“We are in administration and we know there are vultures out there trying to take our players for peanuts.

“That will certainly not happen.”
