A DERBYSHIRE tourist hotspot is inviting people to enjoy a blast from the past this July at its annual Steam Rally.

From Friday to Sunday, visitors can expect to check out a variety of steam traction engines to pique their historical interests at the grounds of Elvaston Castle.

There will also be vintage and classic cars and motorcycles, vintage commercials, tractors, stationary barn engines, miniature steam engines and a model show. Alongside steam traction, guests can enjoy a number of other activities and stalls to get involved in, including craft displays and stalls, children’s entertainment, a dog and duck show, gun runners, a Punch and Judy show, a miniature railway, as well as working demonstrations of log sawing and threshing.

A vintage funfair for guests to enjoy will also be open all day and into the event. Tickets cost £12 per adult, with accompanied children getting in for no charge. Children are free to visit without an adult, but must pay £5.

There are no advanced tickets available for the event, and entry is cash only. Visitors are advised to bring the correct change if possible.

Those attending can expect to receive a wristband on entry, which must be worn at all times, and will allow entry in and out of the rally during the day. Car parking at the event is free, but there will be a number of free buses running to the grounds from Derby centre on Saturday and Sunday, and from Heanor and Ilkeston on Sunday only.

More details regarding routes and times can be found on the Elvaston steam website. Dogs are welcome if kept on a lead at all times. On site camping is available for the weekend.
