Car boot sale is returning to football club
A POPULAR Derbyshire car boot sale is returning next weekend.
The event used to be held weekly in the car park of Chesterfield Football Club, but moved a few years ago. But now it’s coming back, with the owner describing it as a “rebirth” and the club adding it’s “delighted” at the prospect.
Once the car boot sale left the football club, it moved to a car park in Rose Hill, in Chesterfield town centre, but was paused, mainly due to a lack of permanent toilet facilities. But discussions between Chesterfield Borough Council and the football club have seen the weekly event return, starting on Sunday, July 10.
Chesterfield FC’s marketing manager, Bridget Ball, said: “We are delighted to be working with Chesterfield Borough Council and Treasure Trove Fairs to bring the Car Boot back to the Technique Stadium. We have the facilities and space to accommodate many car booters and I’m sure this news will be well received by those who enjoy selling at car boot sales and attending them.”
The car boot sale will be operated by the football club under licence from the council and alongside the area’s largest car boot operator, Treasure Trove Fairs.
Treasure Trove Fairs owner, Mike Snow, said, “It’s so exciting to see the rebirth of this incredibly popular car boot sale. There will be many introductory offers for car booters, including Tesco gift cards, free matchday vouchers, and many other goodies. We’re pleased to have teamed up with Tesco to offer free car parking and we can’t thank the store enough for their kind co-operation.
“We’re thrilled to work with Chesterfield Football Club, who have been kind enough to offer the use of toilets in Chester’s Den and give us this amazing opportunity.”
Next weekend’s event begins at 7am and finishes at 1pm. Booters will be able to trade for a £10 fee per pitch and public admission is free of charge, further details can be found on Treasure Trove Fairs’ Facebook Group.
