INTERIM boss Liam Rosenior says he could not be “prouder” of representing Derby County as he hailed their “amazing” fans.

More than 1,300 supporters travelled to watch the first pre-season game of the summer last weekend as the Rams emerged 2-0 winners at Bradford City.

Amid a real buzz ahead of the forthcoming season under new owners, Clowes Developments, they created a fine atmosphere as Derby’s summer schedule got off to a fine start.

With seven new signings through the door, a list that includes Conor Hourihane, James Chester and David McGoldrick, Derby now have a bright future after the darkest chapter in the club’s history was brought to an end by lifelong Rams fan and local businessman David Clowes.

And Rosenior says he is determined to keep the feelgood factor by producing the results on the pitch in the new season which begins in just over a fortnight.

“The fans were amazing,” he said. “It’s now up to myself, the players and the staff to keep that feeling going and give them something to shout about every weekend. I honestly couldn’t be prouder of representing this football club at the moment and hopefully, that continues and gives us a lot to shout about through the season.” Derby are back in action again this weekend when they tackle Hertha Berlin at Pride Park for a 4pm kick-off. And there could potentially be a new signing before the two sides meet with Derby closing in on a deal for Cardiff striker James Collins. The 31-year-old former Luton forward is expected to arrive on a free transfer and was reportedly due to undergo a medical yesterday ahead of his move to the League One Rams.

I honestly couldn’t be prouder of representing this football club at the moment and hopefully, that continues. Liam Rosenior
