Comedian Alan Carr, left, needed a crutch to finish a performanc­e of his Regional Trinket tour in Glasgow at the weekend. Alan, 46, explained: “There’s a bit in my routine where I pretend to be Jason Statham. I high kicked then I got the worst cramp ever. It was shooting pains and I was rolling around on the floor, so people thought it was part of the act.”

Rocketman star Taron Egerton fainted during the opening night of the London production of Cock at the Ambassador­s Theatre in March and was attended to by a doctor in the audience. He later told fans he was “completely fine” but had suffered a “sore neck and a bruised ego”. He was forced to withdraw from the play again after testing positive for Covid-19.

US guitarist Carlos Santana has postponed tour dates after collapsing on stage during a show in Michigan last week. The 74-year-old was attended to by multiple staff members and medical personnel and waved to fans as he was helped off stage.

Justin Bieber was given oxygen backstage when he collapsed during a concert at London’s 02 Arena in 2013. He insisted on finishing the show and returned to the stage after 20 minutes before going to hospital for a check-up after the concert.

Singer Enrique Iglesias broke his hand during a concert in Mexico in 2015 when he tried to grab a flying drone filming the crowd. He completed the show with a T-shirt wrapped around his injured hand and later needed reconstruc­tive

surgery.

Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl fell off stage and broke his leg in Sweden in 2015, but went back on to finish the concert. He told James Corden on The Late Late Show his leg had snapped and his ankle had been dislocated. “This guy holding my ankle said, ‘I have to hold your ankle in place’. I said, ‘You have to come on stage!’. It was the best show I ever had.”

Comedy performer Julian Clary chipped a bone in his foot and sprained his wrist falling on a flight of stairs while playing Dandini in Cinderella in Liverpool in 2005. He bravely returned to continue the pantomime in a wheelchair.

Florence And The Machine singer Florence Welch broke a foot while leaping off stage at the 2015 Coachella Festival. She was later carried on to the stage to finish the performanc­e seated at the famous music event in California.

Singer Jessie J ended up in plaster and on crutches when she fell off stage at Wembley during tour rehearsals in 2011. She underwent a bone transplant as part of reconstruc­tive surgery to mend her left ankle and later performed at Glastonbur­y sitting on a throne.

Rocker Alice Cooper nearly hanged himself during a concert at Wembley in 1988 when a wire snapped as he put his head in a pretend noose during a stage stunt. He still continued with the show after the wire was replaced.
