-

BABY D and Urban Cookie Collective have been announced as headline acts for this year’s free Derby Pride event.

The dance music stars will perform their hits – Let Me Be Your Fantasy, and Feels Like Heaven – alongside a number of other acts, including vocalist Karen Parry.

The one-day extravaganza will be hosted by Soraya Vivian for the fourth time, and will take place at Markeaton Park on September 10 from 12pm to 6.30pm. It will also feature a funfair, market zone, food and drinks, a family area, and an official after-party at the Crown Inn in Curzon Street, Derby.

This year’s event will mark 50 years of Pride and will feature a number of other acts including X-Factor star Amrick Chana; solo artist K Harrison; singersongwriter Matty Haynes; local drag queen Faye Pozer; a Dolly Parton impersonator known as The Dolly Show and female star impersonator Diva Chanel.

Derby Pride chair Martin Carter said: “The Pride movement started with parades and marches and this year marks the 50th anniversary of the UK’s first Pride march.”

Other live music at the event will include DJ Adz and DJ Will. It will be the first Pride event in Derby since the pandemic, with organisers promising it will be the biggest ever.

Pride celebrations are held across the world to celebrate the achievements and contributions made by gay, lesbian, transgender, bisexual and queer people.
