Daytime closures while resurfacing work is carried out on busy route

-

PART of a busy route through a Derby suburb is to close for two weeks in August.

Osmaston Park Road, Allenton, will be undergoing daytime closures from Friday, August 12, to Friday, August 26. The road will be closed for six hours on weekdays between Elton Road and Arkwright Street. The Derby City Council resurfacing work will be carried out from 9.30am until 3.30pm.

A diversion route will be in place for affected motorists via the A5111 Kenilworth Road, Warwick Avenue, Burton Road, Lara Croft Way, and Osmaston Road. Road markings will be assessed and replaced where necessary as part of the work.

As part of the same project, nearby Elton Road will also be undergoing daytime closures between 9.30am and 3.30pm from Monday, August 8, to Friday, August 12. Improvements for pedestrians will be carried out by the junction with Osmaston Park Road.

A diversion route will be in place for affected drivers via Osmaston Park Road, Osmaston Road and

Cotton Lane. Residents will be able to access their properties during both stages of work, however there may be a short delay at times. Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times.

A letter has been sent to residents living nearby regarding the work, which will be completed on the city council’s behalf by Thomas Bow Ltd. Part of the letter reads: “We appreciate this work is disruptive and journeys could be delayed. Our main aim is to get the work completed as quickly and safely as possible.

“We thank you in advance for your patience and understanding and hope that you agree this improvement work is long overdue and is very much needed for businesses, residents and the travelling public.”
