Dozens of car classics are on the way to vintage meet

-

EVEN more classic cars than normal will be on show at a Derbyshire vintage vehicle museum this week.

The Great British Car Journey already houses more than 140 classic British motors in its showroom.

But dozens more vehicles will be available to view when motoring enthusiasts descend on the Ambergate attraction for its second-ever car meet gathering. The event will be held between 5pm and 9pm on Thursday.

Despite torrential rain, the first gathering still attracted more than 50 cars and their owners earlier this year.

With high temperatures and sunshine forecast, Richard Usher, chief executive officer of the Great British Car Journey, is expecting high demand for places.

He said: “While Great British Car Journey is all about British

The first gathering attracted more than 50 cars despite heavy rain manufactured cars, the gathering is for all cars. We just want to bring car enthusiasts together to admire each other’s cars, socialise and share their passion with each other.

“At the last event we had a stunning array of cars on show, with marques from all over the world. It was a wonderful event and I’m looking forward to seeing many more at our second gathering. “

The attraction, which fills the former Richard Johnson & Nephew Wire Works site by the banks of the River Derwent, has been welcoming motoring enthusiasts from across the country since opening for the first time in May last year.

More than 140 classic British cars are on display to visitors at the Derbyshire showroom, including the classic Mini, Ford Escort and Capri, the Austin Seven and Metro.

Thursday’s event will take place in the large car park at Great British Car Journey with food and drinks provided by Thornbridge Brewery and the attraction’s own Filling Station café.

It costs £5 to attend the event and registration is essential. Book online at www.eventbrite.co.uk, or call Iain Fox on 01773 317243.
