Daytime road closures continue on routes in three city suburbs

-

THERE will be road closures as work is carried out in three Derby suburbs this week.

Big projects got under way in Sandringham Drive, Spondon, and Snelsmoor Lane, Chellaston, last week, and are both expected to take around another three weeks to complete.

Both roads will be shut during the day this week, with Snelsmoor Lane also remaining closed overnight.

Telecoms firm CityFibre is also due to start work in Horwood Avenue, Littleover, where there will be two weeks of road closures.

Some other city routes are also due to undergo roadworks this week, according to the Derby City Council website and roadworks collaboration site one.network.

Derby City Council began work to resurface the entirety of Sandringham Drive, in Spondon, last week. Closures will be in place along three separate stretches of the road as the local authority’s in-house Streetpride team carry out the works in stages. Road closures are being enforced between the working hours of 8am and 4pm each day.

Businesses in Sandringham Drive will all remain accessible. Vehicles can still drive along the road, as long as they are stopping at a property and not just passing through.

Snelsmoor Lane, which links Chellaston and Boulton Moor, will remain closed for another few weeks. The road is closed between Thulston Fields Farm and Boulton Moor as work is carried out by Lambe Construction for the installation of drainage infrastructure. A diversion route is in place.

Horwood Avenue, Littleover, is to close for two weeks from tomorrow for work by CityFibre. The route will be shut for 8am until 5pm each weekday. Service 5A buses from Arriva will be unable to serve stops on Carlton Road and Horwood Avenue, and are instead set to divert via Whitaker Road.
