THIS year, 155 locations across the East Midlands have been given the award, including 32 in Derbyshire. Bolsover was the only area not to have a single park or green space recognised for the award.

Green Heritage Site Accreditation This award is supported by Historic England and Trained Heritage Judges carry out assessments of some sites at the same time that they are being inspected for the Green Flag Award. Sites must complete a desk and a field assessment, and two locations in Derbyshire have won the award this year, which are:
Green Flag Community Award The Green Flag Community Award is based on an assessment by a judge against 24 criteria. The average is then multiplied by 10, and that score must be above 66 per cent for a space to be given the award.
Some visits by judges are pre-arranged, but sites are sometimes ‘mystery shopped’. This year, 12 locations in Derbyshire earned the award.
