Two weeks of road closures set to start
TWO weeks of road closures will start on a busy Derby route later this week.
Osmaston Park Road, in Allenton, will be undergoing daytime closures from Friday, August 12, to Friday, August 26.
The road will be closed for six hours from 9.30am until 3.30pm on weekdays between Elton Road and Arkwright Street.
As part of the same project, nearby Elton Road will be undergoing closures between 9.30am and 3.30pm from today to Friday. Improvements for pedestrians will be carried out at the junction with Osmaston Park Road. Diversions will be in place for affected drivers.
Elsewhere, the A608 at Breadsall Hilltop sees overnight closures tonight and tomorrow for carriageway planning and relaying of the road surface by C3 Construction between 7 and 11pm. The road closures will be enforced between the Lime Lane and Porters Lane junctions. A diversion route will be in place.
In Sandringham Drive, Spondon, Derby City Council resurfacing work continues and is scheduled to take around another two weeks. Closures will be in place along three separate stretches as the local authority’s in-house Streetpride team carries out the work in stages. Phase one, which started in late July, was between the road’s junctions with Stoney Lane and Lochinvar Close. Stage two is from Lochinvar Close to Hampton Court, while the final stage will be from Hampton Court to Dale Road. Road closures are being enforced between 8am and 4pm.
Snelsmoor Lane, between Chellaston and Boulton Moor, will remain closed until Friday, August 26 as Lambe Construction installs drainage as part of the construction of a new roundabout which will link to a nearby housing development.
Work being carried out by telecoms firm CityFibre is continuing in Horwood Avenue, Littleover with daytime closures from 8am until 5pm each weekday for utility repair and maintenance works. Work started last Tuesday and is set to be completed next Monday. Service 5A buses from Arriva will be unable to serve stops on Carlton Road and Horwood Avenue, and are instead set to divert via Whitaker Road.
