LIAM Rosenior has confirmed he has held talks with his latest transfer target but was giving nothing away on his identity as he looks to add to his Derby County squad.

The Rams have so far made 12 signings this summer but are still looking to add strength in depth ahead of the window closing on September 1.

They have been looking for an experienced full-back following Nathan Byrne’s departure, as well as a goalkeeper in the last few weeks.

A couple of extra additions are likely to complete the Rams’ business until January and speaking ahead of tomorrow’s home League One clash against Barnsley (3pm), Rosenior confirmed he spoke to a player on Wednesday over a potential move to Pride Park Stadium.

“It’s looking good,” he said.

“We’ve been in talks with some players who have been on our list for a long time.

“It just takes time. You don’t want to bring players in a rush.

“You want to make sure that you give your first targets in each position the best opportunity to bring those players in and we’re still at that place. I’m really excited.

“I spoke to a player yesterday. I’m really excited about the prospect of bringing him in.

“There’s a few minor details and issues to sort out but it’s looking really promising.

“We’re still working really hard. I’m happy for it to take time. I keep saying I could rush and get a player in, get him signed up, wearing a scarf and social media is buzzing.

“But I want to make sure it’s the right player to come in.

“We’ve got that right so far, I think you can see that in our performances.

“Hopefully, our recruitment continues in that manner.”
