Timeline: final hours of an engrossing game sees a goal come out of nowhere
■■7.05pm: The ball was last seen at Waterside Park car park - but some players are now gathered around the back of the Stepping Stones pub could this be a clue?
■■7.19pm: The crowd is on the move as the Up’ards appear to be on the counter-attack - but there is a lot of confusion on the ground
■■7.35pm: The ball appears to have been located - and our people on the ground say there’s now a lot of activity at Clifton
■■7.57pm: Crowds are beginning to build at the memorial gates - however there is no hug in this location, according to our reporter at the scene. We’re also told that players are now gathering at the bowling green, with suggestions on the ground that the ball has gone towards Sturston. If the ball goes missing for more than an hour, it’s declared void

■■8.11pm: GOAL! The Up’ards score to make it a 2-0 win, although we would not get confirmation for over an hour. The goal was by Steve Maznenko
■■8.26pm: Our reporter Lizzy Butterfield is at the Green Man in St John Street and says the pub is filling up. The goal has to be officially ratified and the time confirmed here
■■8.53pm: People are now starting to make their way down Belper Road but there’s still no sign of anyone with the ball
■■9pm: And there it is! As the crowds continue to make their way along Belper Road, Dean Carpenter and Tyler Baxter shared this photo (right) with us showing the ball

■■9.20pm: The Up’ards arrive at the Green Man with Steve Maznenko hoisted aloft their shoulders
■■9.31pm: We’ve had confirmation that the Up’ards goal has been ratified – making that a 2-0 victory for the northsiders
■■9.39pm: Alex Coutts of the University of Derby’s Storyhub shares a clip showing loud cheers ringing out at the Green Man for Steve, the player who goaled the ball for the Up’ards. Play is officially over – and so too is the game for 2024!
