County architects to lead on top school’s sports project
A DERBYSHIRE architects practice has been announce as the lead architects for the development of new covered sports pitches and facilities at Stowe School in Buckinghamshire.
Renowned for its rich history, dating back to its inception in 1923, Stowe is set amidst the grand Grade 1 listed mansion house, with its historic gardens and landscape managed by The National Trust.
As the school continues to expand, it has set forth an ambitious sports development strategy, prompting an open tender to architects across the country, culminating in the selection of Matthew Montague Architects, based near Ashbourne, for the prestigious project.
Daniel Evans, architect at Matthew Montague Architects, said: “We’re thrilled to have been chosen as the lead architects for this project at Stowe School.
“It’s a tremendous opportunity, and we look forward to collaborating with the school to create inspiring new sports facilities for the students.”
With a distinguished portfolio that includes projects with Derby County, Derbyshire Cricket Club, Repton School, and various notable buildings in Derbyshire, MMA has gained a reputation for quality design, blending functionality with innovation.
Notable projects include University of Derby masterplan, the dining room at Repton Preparatory School, and Culland Farm, reportedly the largest house built in Derbyshire in the past 40 years.
Rob Cooper, group project manager at Stowe, said: “The plans for our new sports facilities are very exciting for our students, and we are looking forward to providing them with first-class facilities to enrich their sporting experience.”
