Although what happens during the concert will be entirely unpredictable, photographing a concert successfully still requires planning and preparation. turning up to a gig with a bag full of gear without much prior thought would be a huge mistake – you don’t want to be fumbling around with settings and kit while the event unfolds in front of you. however, you’ll never be able to re-create the exact feel and pace of a concert from home, so there will always be a little on-thespot learning. the key to professional-looking imagery is planning and knowledge mixed in with a bit of practice.

Over the next few pages you will discover all you need to know in order to skilfully capture a concert. Make sure you take the right kit along with you, and know how to keep it safe.
