Telephoto optic is the longest GF lens yet

“The lens offers a focal length equivalent to 198mm in 35mm terms”

Fujifilm has bolstered its medium-format GFX system with the introduction of a new telephoto lens and a handful of accessories.

The Fujinon GF250mm f4 R LM OIS WR, whose development was confirmed on the GF lens roadmap released last year, offers a focal length equivalent to 198mm in 35mm terms. Its focal length qualifies it as the longest GF lens in the company’s line-up.

Fujifilm has crafted the new optic with a dust- and moisture-resistant magnesium-alloy design, and has equipped it with an Optical Image Stabilisation system that promises five stops of compensation.

The GFX system currently only offers one camera, namely the GFX 50S, which was released in 2017.

The company has also confirmed a new Fujinon Teleconverter GF1.4X TC WR, which is intended for use with the above lens and extends focal length to 277mm in 35mm format equivalent.

MCEX-18G WR and MCEX-45G WR Macro Extension Tubes have also been announced alongside it.

The GF250mm f4 R LM OIS WR lens is set to retail for £2,900/$3,300, while the GF1.4X TC WR teleconverter will be made available for £750/$850.

The MCEX-18G WR and MCEX-45G WR will each retail at £290/$330.
