AS MODERN PHOTOGRAPHERS, WE’RE LESS CONFINED THAN EVER TO BEING MASTERS OF ONE GENRE

- LAUREN SCOTT, EDITOR lauren.scott@futurenet.com

As modern photographers, we’re less confined than ever to being masters of one genre. Great news then – as we’ve got a myriad of photo content for you to get stuck into this issue.

Our practical techniques section starts with a macro masterclass on p32. Discover how to take better close-up shots, avoid blur, and work with plants and insects for stunning images. For super-sharp results, there’s a focus-stacking tutorial from Geraint Radford on p46 – a bonus project to help you capture and edit images without a tripod.

Next up is a pro guide to cityscape photography, with Serge Ramelli and Anton Alymov as your mentors. From p52, learn how to shoot incredible urban landscapes by honing your lens choices, mastering composition and lighting, and then polishing off shots with our expert processing tips.

Portraiture gets its share of exposure this month, with an artistic creative project (p66) and gorgeously romantic lifestyle shots in our pro interview (p22). Plus, turn to our career advice on p76 to discover ways to shoot and sell more images to your clients.

Moving on to the tech side of things, Canon had us all hooked when they launched the EOS R5 and EOS R6, advanced full-frame mirrorless camera additions that are being dubbed as their most exciting release ever. This is an overused phrase in the camera world, admittedly, but the EOS R5 really does look to be worth the hype. You can read our verdict on p90.

Also in the kit section, our new gear guru Jon Devo takes a look at the Pansonic LUMIX G100 (p94), we’ve tested four of the best lenses for bokeh effects (p82) and hand-picked ten top accessories (p96).

Enjoy the issue… and your free assets on p8!
