Nith Valley Amateur Boxing Club staged a great show last weekend at Loreburn Hall before a big crowd of 350 family members and friends.

Head coach Mark Dawson organised the event and paid tribute to those who fought on the day and those who helped him make it such a successful occasion.

He said: “What a fantastic show we had on Saturday afternoon at Loreburn Hall.

“We had kids boxing on our show from as young as 10 years of age through to adults which was fantastic for the large crowd of family and friends to come and watch the show and cheer on their boxers.

“And we also had boxers from all over Scotland and the north of England who travelled to box against the Nith Valley lads.”

He explained: “I started planning the show just before Christmas which took a lot of organising and planning.

“I wanted to do all the planning and organising myself so if anything went wrong then I had only myself to blame and everything went to plan.

“There was a great lighting and sound team at Loreburn and I would like to say a big well done to everyone who was involved with the show on the day and to all the sponsors who helped make it possible to stage the event.

“Everyone that boxed got awarded with a trophy. There were 11 Nith Valley boxers competing with lads from all over the country.

“It’s a big thing for lads to walk down that walkway in the flashing lights and to step into ring for first time for the younger lads.

“They are all winners in my eyes and we also gave a couple slots our to our friends at Solway Spartans and Bravehearts who boxed on the show as well.”
